Cindy Rhodes aka Mermaid Morrigan performs her original music at festivals, art galleries, jam sessions, wine tastings, spiritual services, and farmer’s markets along Eastern North Carolina. She composes and performs her original music using the hammered dulcimer and occasionally the keyboard. The acoustic/instrumental music has been described as “western new age with a little water music set in for good measure.” Though the songs are instrumental, they all spring from positive spiritual facts that surround each and every one of us. and every song has a story.

Using the airborne tones of Persephone, her beauitful hammered dulcimer, Cindy creates her own “mermaid music,” an ethereal concoction of sound waves that meet, mix, and mingle to create an experience that places the listener into her mermaid world. She uses that as a springboard from which she dives into a more contemporary style with her hammered dulcimer. She thinks it a tragedy that this instrument is considered more of a “mountain” novelty, and her dream is to bring the full beauty of this age-old instrument into the lives of every eastern North Carolinian.

CHARGES: $50 minimum for gigs within a 1.5 hour drive. $1 per mile (one way) for all others, no matter if it's one hour or seven! Fee waived for humanitarian events. Extra fees may apply for necessary overnites.
